In March of 2002 Wyoming had a manufacturing employment of 11,300 with an average weekly wage of $633 for 37 hours worked. This compares to an average weekly wage in Goshen County of $379, making manufacturing jobs highly desirable. About 45% of the manufacturing jobs are in durable goods and 55% in non-durable goods. Developing Your Workforce There should be no question that a manufacturing business would be able to find affordable locations to buy or build their operation in Goshen County. You will also find available power to be sufficient, dependable and cheaply priced. There is plenty of natural gas and coal available as well. Wyoming's taxes are among the lowest in the Nation. Torrington has the most available housing if you plan to import a portion of your workforce with over 200 houses on the market. We are also prepared to help develop a workforce to your specifications. Job training grants are available to companies that can demonstrate the need for special training for Wyoming employees. Such companies are encouraged to use the Community College Systems or other local instructors. Torrington is home to Eastern Wyoming College that offers degrees in Machine Tool and Welding and has participated in these types of grants to train for employers needs. "Primary" jobs, such as manufacturing jobs, receive more points than "secondary" jobs for these grants.
