History of Torrington's Municipal Airport Torrington dedicated its new airport on April 12, 1958. State Supreme Court Justice Glenn Parker delivered the dedication address. Mayor F.C. Calhoun acted as Master of Ceremonies, other speakers were United States Senator Frank Barrett, State Aeronautics Director George Nelson, District CAA Airport Engineer H.T. Kimball Jr. and several other State and National Officials. Airport Manager Mel Hart, announced his Goshen Flying Service would have the complete line of new Cessna Aircraft on display and at least two other makes of aircraft. Helicopters, Inc. of Denver, Colorado brought two Bell 47-G2 Helicopters to Torrington for the dedication. They offered rides over Torrington throughout the day. A 'Fly-By' of a Wyoming Air National Guard Jet was scheduled that afternoon. The invocation was by Rev. Don Morris of the Torrington Methodist Church. Almost every decade since the airport dedication major improvements have been made at the airport some of which are: new t hangers; paved roads; fencing; new fuel system; taxiways; ag hanger building; new navigational aids etc.Torrington Municipal Airport Location: Torrington Airport Communications: CAUTION: Deer and birds in vicinity of airport.
