Help Us Plant Trees
The Torrington Tree Board is trying to raise funds to
plant trees in three different areas within the City of Torrington this spring.
We have the opportunity to apply for a $1000-$5000 grant with the Wyoming
Department of Forestry; however, the grant must be equally matched (dollar for
dollar) with local donations and volunteer labor.
The three areas are:
- Trail Elementary School Arboretum needs twenty-five
trees replaced. A new water drip system has been installed this summer
thanks to the Rotary Club of Torrington for their generous donation.
- The new soccer fields have no shade trees at all.
- The new sports complex has no shade trees either.
The City of Torrington has been a member of “Tree City
USA” for 23 years; only two cities in the entire of State of Wyoming have been
members longer. The Torrington Tree Board members are: Janet Flock, Mary
Byrnes, Mike Durfee, Ron Kaufman, Linda Schafer, Jerry Simonsen, Gardy Pyle and
Billy Janes.
Only with your generous donation today will we be able
to achieve these goals to assist our community. Donations can be dropped off at
City Hall or mailed to Tree City USA, P O Box 250; Torrington, WY 82240. If
you have any questions please do not hesitate to call Co-chairman Janet Flock at
(307) 532-9888.
Thank you for your time and participation.
